Ketaki Pimpalkhare looks at nature as an ongoing source of inspiration to create awareness about the importance of imbibing the dwindling sensitivity towards our planet and surroundings. Turning to elements from the sky to the sea, and the mating of flora and fauna, her works give birth to mythical creatures that resonate with each other and our surroundings. She works to build new realities and worlds that exist in their world and imagery. Ketaki received a Master of Art. (Painting) from S.N.D.T. Women’s University, Pune. She has experimented with various mediums and is working as a freelance medical illustrator, expanding her experience in human anatomy. Her work has been used for various academic orthopedic publications. Ketaki’s belief that in communing with nature we move closer to nature led her to recognize the sensitivity among young children. She started her journey on a path of working with them and volunteering with various NGOs such as Asha Foundation, Akanksha Foundation, and Nirvanavan Foundation teaching and helping rural, underprivileged, and special children through her Art. She uses art as a form of therapy in helping children from trauma to express themselves.
Ketaki has been a recipient of the State Award for Printmaking, ‘Violence’, Abhinav Kala, Pune in 1992, and the State Award for Photography, Fergusson College, Pune, 1994. She has exhibited her work widely, and some of the exhibitions include: a solo show of digital collage at Anupa Mehta Arts and Advisory, Mumbai (2022), Art Basel Miami, USA (2017), Le Hivernage Art Gallery, Marrakech, Morocco (2015), ‘Bi’Atolye, Kadakôy, Istanbul, Turkey (2014), Kartal Belediyesi, Istanbul, Turkey (2014), Surreal/Fantastic’ paintings, Bach Modern Project, Salzburg, Austria (2010), The Contemporary Art Gallery, Prince of Wales Museum, Mumbai (2010) and others. She was an artist in residence AGF 17-18 arrondissement, Paris (2019), Kosovo Art Colony, Prishtina, Kosovo (2017), She received the Woman Achievers Award in the Field of Art in (2017), from Naaz Foundation Delhi and the Times Women Achievers awards, Pune 2017.
