K Laxma Goud, born in Nizampur Telangana, displays his artistic versatility across various mediums, including etching, gouache, pastel, sculpture, and glass painting. Raised in a family of toddy brewers, Goud pursued his early education at the Government College of Art and Architecture, Hyderabad, earning a diploma in painting. His artistic journey underwent a significant shift when he relocated to Baroda in 1963, exposing him to contemporary art and traditional fresco techniques. While his fascination with eroticism is evident in his works, inspired by the open attitudes towards sex in his village, Goud’s art covers a broad spectrum. Themes range from explicit portrayals of sexual play to depictions of human, animal, and nature forms, as well as a nuanced exploration of male-female relationships. The dynamic between his rural upbringing, marked by a lack of sexual taboos, and his urban education profoundly influences and sustains the unique expression found in Goud’s art.
