The surrounding- both within and without, gets depicted in my paintings/work. The environment in which I have been born and brought up, as well as my perspective of the environment surrounding me, gain expression through my imaginative faculty. There are no hidden stories or complexities underlining my work; and these all centre on the ‘outside’ natural world. The ‘inside’ gains special emphasis because most of my observation revolves around various interior parts of my own house/room. Even certain aspects of the colony where I come from have gained life in my paintings, albeit with certain colorings of my own imagination.
In order to differentiate between ‘upper class’ and ‘middle class’ I have used different architectural designs within a same painting. Even within these separate classes lurks my fantastic architectural landscape which we seldom find in the present real world.
My imagination gains life through various ‘mediums’. I have tried to work by keeping all ‘mediums’ together. Although I don’t know how much or how far I have succeeded in my Endeavour, but the experimentation is still going on. In the course of my career, while trying to put forth ‘pure drawing’ or ‘pure painting’, I sometimes thought why can’t another medium be depicted on a single paper or canvas. I had spent considerable amount of time considering this idea. That is the reason why I have presented my works/paintings to all by merging all the ‘mediums’ together.
I have worked with various mediums and received inspiration from various places. In-fact I have received great encouragement from my teacher (Sir K. Laxma Goud ) regarding my working with various ‘mediums’. He had repeatedly emphasized that one has to first fully understand a ‘medium’ and then put it to use in its own essence; and the most important thing is that if one is capable of loving a ‘medium’, the ‘medium’ too reciprocates in its own kind. My teacher’s experiences have acquainted me with various aspects of various subjects. My works reflect his influence on me and I am thankful that having worked under the guidance of such a great peer has helped and still helping me in my effort to strive forward relentlessly.
